We live in a world that brings uncertainty into our lives: uncertainty in health, family, money, and the future. We wonder if anything in life can be certain. Did you know that the most important area of your life can be certain?

The Bible clearly says in 1 John 5:13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” Did you know that your eternal destination can be sure? God wants you to know whether or not you have eternal life.

DO YOU KNOW?

Suppose you stood before God today and he were to ask you, “Why should I let you into heaven?” What would you say?

Here are some answers people might use before God:

I was a good person

Rom 3:11-12 – They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Giving ones money, time and energies to “good” things is not accepted by God. Why? This is self-effort, and self-effort will not get someone into heaven.

I did my best

Isa 64:6 – But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;

We see that even our sincere best comes up short in regards to earning acceptance into heaven.

I believe in God

James 2:19 – Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Though believing in God is a great start – that alone will not get you any closer to heaven.

I was a faithful church member

Matt 7:22-23 – Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me , ye that work iniquity.

There are going to be many well-meaning individuals that were greatly involved in religion and ceremony, people that maybe even received honors and notoriety for Christian behavior, but the acceptance of man will not obligate God.

Man’s best effort falls short because of man’s greatest need

Rom 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

My friend, we are all sinners. Everything we do is “contaminated.” A Holy God rejects our contaminated works.

But I have great news!! God made a way for us!

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom 5:8 –  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Rom 6:23 – For the wages (penalty) of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We see here that sin must be paid for by death. God did not want us to pay for our own sins in hell, so with great love He sent us His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross on the behalf of our sins. He died, was buried, but arose again victorious over sin and the grave.

Though this was a great sacrifice, it is offered to you and me as a gift – a gift of eternal life!

Eph 2:8-9 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

How do we accept this great gift?

Rom 10:9-10,13 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 20:21b -…Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

We see in these verses that we must take our faith off of ourselves and trust in God’s provision by placing our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior.

How do you receive God’s salvation?

  1. Admit that you are a sinner, confess that you have sinned against God and ask Him for forgiveness.2.

  2. Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God Who died for you on the cross, and rose from the dead.

  3. Call upon Jesus Christ asking Him to be your Saviour. He will not only forgive you of your sin but will enable you to grow in increasing obedience to God.

Why not right now receive Jesus Christ as your Savior?

You don’t have to be in a church or in front of a Pastor. All you have to do is believe what Jesus did for you and sincerely call out to God for His salvation through His Son – and he will save you! If you have received Jesus Christ today – you now have certainty! You are forgiven! You now have eternal life! Heaven will be your future home!

Notice again what 1 John says:

1 John 5:11-13 – And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
